Glucosamine is a key building block in the construction of connective tissue, joints and cartilage. Without it, everyday movements and tasks like walking would be very difficult and painful. As we get older, production naturally decreases − putting those who are aging at a greater risk of deficiency.

There is no daily recommended intake of glucosamine however our capsules contain 500mg glucosamine per pill.

Glucosamine and collagen work together to protect and strengthen joints. Glucosamine acts like a lubricant for joints, connective tissue and cartilage, and collagen promotes regeneration and repair of the joint tissue.

Rare side effects of glucosamine may include nausea, vomiting, indigestion, diarrhoea or constipation. Taking glucosamine with meals can help alleviate some of these side effects. Consult your doctor if such side effects occur. Glucosamine can also interfere with drugs prescribed for blood thinning, and medications processed by the liver, and should generally be avoided unless you’re doctor has specifically approved.

Glucosamine is a form of sugar, previously thought to impact blood sugar, however, more recent research suggests that this is probably not the case. Diabetic and pre-diabetics should check-in with their doctor before taking glucosamine. Little is known about the side effects of glucosamine supplementation on pregnant and breastfeeding women. If you fall into either category, check with your doctor before starting glucosamine.
